It hasn’t been an easy last few weeks for me. Training wise I was hoping for a lot more progression, or to at least be able to stay on the kayak two weeks out from a World Championships. I will share more about the challenges this week.
It’s a high pressure, high stress time and I love it!
In my book “The Motivation Station” I have a chapter called ‘ The foundation chapter’. In it I talk about having a plan and a foundation to fall back on during times of high stress and pressure, when everything is going wrong.
This here is me returning to one of my foundations, nature, in order to reground my thoughts and re-centre myself. It brings me back to the important things in life and rejuvenates my spirit. When people ask how I deal so well under stress and during times of challenge, this is one of those reasons. I return to my foundation. What is your foundation?

For me, Pita, it is swimming in the beautiful waters of Fort De Russy Beach in Waikiki and seeing all the sea turtles that like to gather there. I consider the Honu to be my aumakua because they protect me when I am in danger and they reassure me, no matter how bad a day I am having, that things will get better. They are symbols of endurance, wisdom, and hope.
Hope things go better with your training, Pita, and Mahalo for your words of wisdom!
Happy Aloha Sunday 😊😊🤙🏼🤙🏼

Like you, I love nature. The sound of water gives me peace. I feel so relaxed around oceans, and rivers. But my ultimate favorite are sunsets 🌅! No matter where I am, no matter what I am doing, at the end of the day a sunset helps me stop and thank God for the beautiful day, as He reminds me of his mercy and love for humanity💛

@pita_tofua my Instagram icon is a picture of one of the honus at Fort De Russy. Many of them like to swim close to the groin that’s at Fort De Russy - and where I took the picture from - at high tide 😊🤙🏼

Hey, man, I hope it gets better. I've lost a few shoes myself turning my kayak over. Have a friend who owns some highly unstable kayaks if you want to train in the United States.

I find peace and serenity when I go to the beach and listen to the sounds of the waves and look at the vast size of the ocean. It always brings me closer to God our creator.
