I still can’t balance on a race kayak but I want to make sure that once I can, the power is ready to move me forward.
This is a version of a seated row. I use it to mimic the kayak paddle technique of the lower arm. If I was aiming for muscle mass I would increase time under tension by slowing down the movement and being more strict on form and execution. My goal instead is power under load. I.e I need to move a heavy load as quickly as possible in a manner similar to the sport I want to do ( without injury) and then reset for the next load as quickly as possible.
Real kayak technique will require a leg press and torso pivot. This can be done on a kayak machine which we don’t have access to due to costs, but we do the best with what we have. There are no excuses just work and more work. That is the cost that has to be paid to become an Olympian in any area of life you so chose.
