“If you can’t have a real Corvette, you can at least drive something designed to look like one.” For many residents of the Villages retirement community in Florida, the tricked-out golf cart is not just a means of transportation. It is also a vehicle of self-expression, a conversation starter and a way to stand out that is fun. Some reflect the owner’s college, favorite sports team or hobbies. Others are jazzed up to look like racecars, Model Ts, or even mini fire engines. In this photo, Donna Joy leans against her customized golf cart, which features a “Monarch front” premium add-on that provides more storage space and the polished aesthetic of a car. The cart is also equipped with a vital addition: a special clip-in basket for her two dogs, CoCo and Chanel. Visit the link in our bio to read more. Photo by @eve_edelheit.

Donna Joy is overweight and probably smells like death, especially in the morning. I try to think of how or when a customized golf cart would be forgivable (even) but I just can’t- I love the NYT s but hate some of their editorial decisions - & I hate Florida more - whatever its residents get they deserve.

I know her...this is not a flattering photo! The poodles are puppies only 8 months old. Can't stop laughing at all the comments especially the ones who try to be nasty! Too Funny! The Full page article online is way better!

I visited once. That was enough. Trump village. All white. I would rather freeze in Ohio.
