@maggie.crnn it just sucks sometimes that they have a unique clothing style that is of good quality, but don’t represent people of color and have a limited size range, that if they made larger would increase their sales. i am a somewhat athletic girl that is fit (and can fit into their clothes) but a larger size range would make it easier to shop (i’m not into super form fitting clothing, which they sell). the people in the comments aren’t trashing on skinny people, they’re pointing out how brandy melville is not keeping up with the times/being inclusive. i’m happy you enjoy the sizes they have, and maybe if they expand their line others will too :)

@eliseforrest I’m sorry but you sound really illogical lmao. I’m considered skinny too ? no, obviously skinny ≠ unhealthy. I never said that. I’m saying that this brand uses sizing and models that under typical circumstances are underweight, while marketing it to an average audience, making the average female audience feel as though they’re not thin enough because they don’t fit into this super popular brand. It’s really common sense...you just sound like you’re in denial over the fact that this brand is horrible for teens. I don’t care to argue anymore.

@hannahtaytay im confused as to why you’re even defending them? Sure everyone’s bodies are different, but SO FEW girls could look like this naturally without taking drastic measures. There’s really no way of defending a company that only caters to size 0 while saying they’re “one size”. If it was literally a store FOR petite people that would be one thing, but it’s not. They’re a hugely popular company and I know for a fact they do not advertise themselves for small girls. They make it seem like it’s completely natural for all girls to look like that.

@bella.nasman i was just talking about the kind of body types that they advertise - their “nova babes” or fashion nova ambassadors have extremely unnatural hourglass or “slim thicc” body types. they have little to none (that i am aware of) nova babes that have a very realistic body shape. i am aware that fashion nova does have sizes for x - small people. i was just pointing out the similarities of fashion nova and brandy melville’s marketing: both companies market to a certain body type that is unrealistic for many people

@bella.nasman i guess i'm about to sound illogical again (sry) but how is brandy marketing to an average audience? when i see a brand's ig page full of curvy women i assume their clothes are made for curvy women, & not thin girls. but you're not wrong they should say on their page that they're a petite brand, even though their page is full of girls between the sizes 00-2, some people that come to their page don't know that they are only a brand for thin girls.

@eliseforrest these comments are incredibly frustrating because people are completely missing the fact that this brand screams unhealthy body standards. That’s great if women have clothes that are catered towards their body, but the brand says absolutely NOTHING about being for thin women, thus acting like it’s normal for every girls to be incredibly thin. If it was called brandy Melville petites or something like that it would be a whole different story.
