@arianahollyy I don't agree with brandy basing their store workers off of popularity and looks, but I understand why. they have to maintain the "popular California girl" look that is so in demand, and yes they could totally not do it but they're trying to stand out in a competitive market. it's ridiculous that they don't have a wider range of pants or maybe even longer shirts however I have made peace with it a while ago. For the "forcing girls to starve themselves" which is a point many girls bring up, I don't agree. Brandy has never stated that their clothes are a symbol of popularity, it is something that we teenagers have created and it's not the store's fault, we should be more mature. I don't agree with everything about brandy but sometimes we find small reasons to hate anything

@thecruelfaerie The fact that they have been explicitly said that they are a petite store tells you all you need to know. They are not marketing to just petite girls they are marketing to all teenagers to influence them and make them feel like it’s important to fit into their clothes. Brandy doesn’t make a size 4 and that’s not even plus size. The use social media and popular Internet personalities to make their brand seem Exclusive important. I’m small too but I don’t do t buy from places that check your Instagram follow count before letting you work there. Of course we shouldn’t bash the girls in the pictures for what they look like. But they are willingly taking part in a brand that profits off of body shaming.

@janyce.spamz i didnt say anything about women of different races. i agree that there should be a variety. however, there are multiple stores that only specialize in plus size womens clothing and thats okay. but its sad that a store for thinner women is being hated on for focussing on a certain body type. ive seen a lot of women that hate the fact that they have no curves and this is a store that may make women of that body type feel more comfortable. i understand that you arent meaning to hate on the store but your criticizing something that helps a lot of women feel more confident in their bodies..

@arianahollyy btw I know they tend to post only fair girls, even the Asian girls are quite pale, but darker skinned girls look amazing in their clothes, especially lavender and mint tones. yes the social media timeline is a bit intimidating because of the lack of melanin but all cultures are more than welcome to shop at Brandy! I follow a few black girls that love Brandy and even tho they were never featured on the page, they prove that even if the Instagram account clearly has preferences, they totally rock their outfits

@morgwynne lmao nobody was bashing them. It was an option, people can say whatever they want bc we have the right to. Again I wasn’t bashing them I was stating how it’s sad we don’t get to see plus size women on certain brands and I get that’s it’s harder for them to make it for plus sizes women but what about women of color ? It isn’t hard for them to show how that are a diverse company that supports women of color, who are all different shades, and once again, no hate.
janyce.spamz
@nataysha.shinell yes because torrid is showing diversity, you don’t have to go back 3 months to see an African American model be featured, or same w a plus sized model, but Brandy doesn’t show either so I can see why they are getting bashed but you are right. They can cater to whoever they want, it just might have them lose followers bc 2019 is different than other years in the fashion industry
