Our downstairs bathroom was the very first reno we did (BEFORE photos were taken after the copper repiping). Having no prior reno background, the contractor we used was very experienced in bathroom renovations and he saved us a lot of money by guiding us towards the most cost-effective yet functional layout. It was eye-opening to see how renovating could completely transform a space and I fell in love with design during this makeover. I also learned that renovating is like childbirth. You need to plan and prepare and design as much as you can ahead of time, really consider how you will be using the space (down to where you want the toilet paper holder to be placed because details matter!). And then sometimes the unexpected happens, especially with older homes, and you’ll need to roll with it and have an experienced contractor to guide the way! But ultimately, you’ll end up with a beautiful reno baby that you couldn't imagine living without!
