‘The Scream (After Munch)’ by Andy Warhol is based on one of the most instantly recognisable motifs in both art history and popular culture. In his 1984 screenprint, Warhol makes some radical changes to the original motif, emphasising the basic features of the figure to create a cartoon-like face and exchanging the tones of Munch’s work for his own choice of unique, bright colour combinations. This striking work is on view in our #London galleries as part of our Prints & Multiples sale, which will take place on 26 March. #SothebysPrints #AndyWarhol
