“I think of myself in extremes, as utterly primitive, and utterly sophisticated. I never liked the middle ground—the most boring place in the world.” –#LouiseNevelson

Two of American sculptor Louise Nevelson’s “Hanging Column” sculptures are now on view in our #MoMACollection galleries. The works are parts of a room-sized work, “Dawn's Wedding Feast” that Nevelson created for MoMA’s 1959–60 exhibition “16 Americans” where each component represents an aspect of a wedding ceremony. Her use of white—a departure from her usual black—emphasizes the nuptial theme. Learn more: mo.ma/hangingcolumns (link in bio)
