Bye-bye bitcoin — pot stocks are here to take its place.
Cannabis is the “next huge growth area,” according to Carol Pepper of Pepper International.
Marijuana stocks have become more notable, as the @NYSE and @Nasdaq both listed cannabis companies in 2018. The companies — Canopy Growth and the Cronos Group — are based in Canada, where recreational marijuana use is legal.
And Canadian legalization has “blown though expectations,” Pepper said.
But the growth in pot stocks won’t mimic the fallout faced by bitcoin after the cryptocurrency lost its popularity, Pepper added.
