If Uber and Lyft go public this year, their drivers may be able to get a piece of the pie.
The two rideshare companies will give some of their drivers a chance to participate in their IPOs, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Uber and Lyft are highly anticipated to go public this year.
The companies will reportedly give their long-serving and highly-active drivers a cash award with the option to convert it into stock. This is an unusual move, as ordinary investors are usually not able to buy a company’s stock at IPO price and because Uber and Lyft drivers are contract employees.
