The 2020 presidential elections are approaching — and Hispanic voters are projected to be the largest minority group in the electorate for the first time ever, the Pew Research Center found.

This could make or break President Donald Trump’s political future.

The shift in voter demographic is partially due to an uptick in immigration and naturalization, Pew researchers said. This “likely has political implications” for Trump, because nonwhite voters tend to prefer Democratic candidates.

Trump has been known to make contentious statements about the Hispanic community. He’s called some Mexicans rapists and has continually demanded the erection of a border wall to prevent migrants from Mexico and Central America from seeking asylum in the U.S.
