Will cold hard cash become a thing of the past?

About 3 in 10 Americans say they no longer use physical money to make purchases in a typical week, according to the Pew Research Center. Additionally, the number of people who said they used cash for nearly all of their purchases decreased from 24% in 2015 to 18%. There’s a specific group paving the way for this shift in payment method preferences: More and more millennials are ditching physical money in favor of debit and digital payments, including Apple Pay, Venmo and Zelle.
