Quick travel comes with a big “boom.” As the U.S. reportedly pushes for the revival of supersonic flights, one study is warning that commercialized faster-than-sound travel can be detrimental when it comes to noise pollution.

Supersonic jets have the ability to move faster than the speed of sound, which can significantly reduce flight times. However, sonic booms — the noise objects make when breaking the sound barrier — are an unfortunate side effect.
