One of the most exciting local festivals I've been to in Fukushima Prefecture - Otawara-hiki Festival in Aizu Bange Town. Festival participants take part in a huge tug of war shinto ceeremony outside of the Town Hall, in the snow, in special cotton shorts provided for the day. Not sure if you can call them shorts but... Anyway! All participants are said to receive one year's good health! It was so exciting to watch this festival and I enjoyed the festival food stands too. Read more about the festival on my blog!
