Iimoriyama in Aizu-Wakamatsu City is best known for the final resting place for the Byakkotai group of young samurai, and the buddhist hall Sazaedo - an amazing feat of architecture from the 17th century, built with a passageway that spirals up and down in the shape of a turban shell. But there are many other small shrines and temples to explore next to the paths that lead up to Sazaedo. They look especially magical in Winter!
