More than any other 20th century painter, Kandinsky has been linked to the history of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Hilla Rebay—artist, art advisor, and the museum’s first director—promoted nonobjective painting above all other forms of abstraction, and was particularly inspired by the work and writing of Kandinsky. As a result, the Guggenheim collection contains more than 150 works by this single artist. #GuggenheimCollection
