Since it opened in 1939, #MoMAGarden has been a respite from the crowds and skyscrapers that surround it while revolutionizing the concept of an outdoor gallery—hosting exhibitions of sculpture, architecture, and design, and serving as a venue for performance; a setting for social gatherings; and even a site of protest. Our new publication “Oasis in the City: The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden at The Museum of Modern Art” pays tribute to the Garden’s beauty and remarkable eighty-year history.
