デザイナーが手掛ける自家焙煎コーヒー

1日に何杯もコーヒーを飲むのは、忙しい毎日にほんの少し安らぎと、考える時間を作るため。そんな時にこそ面白いアイデアが降りてきたりするもの。コーヒーを飲めるお店はたくさんあるけれど、デザイン事務所が経営するロースターカフェってなかなかない。ここのオーナーのパイクさんは、アートディレクターでありフィルムディレクター。多忙な彼だけど「やるなら本気でやりたい」と、毎日焙煎を行っていて、その味はコーヒー通の中でも折り紙つき。「コーヒーは創造力次第で可能性が無限。人の手で作る楽しさは、デザイナーの仕事にとても似てるんです」。とパイクさん。そんな彼は今年1日も休みがとれていないんだとか…その情熱に脱帽。

CHOP COFFEE / The reason why we drink many cups of coffee in a day is to give little calmness and time to think during our busy day. You may come up with interesting ideas in such time. There are many places where you can drink coffee, but rarely is coffee roaster operated by designing office. The owner, Paik, is an art director as well as a film director. Despite being busy, he roasts coffee every day because he says, “If I’m going to do it, I want to give it all,” and his flavor is guaranteed by the coffee experts. “Depending on the creativity, the possibility of coffee is infinite. The joy of creating with human hands are very similar to the work of designer,” says Paik. And he hasn’t taken any day off this year…hats off to his passion.
