Seen one of these on the water lately? As coastal scientists, one of our biggest jobs at @SmithsonianEnvironment is tracking #Invasive Species like this Chinese mitten #crab.
It’s a mysterious invader that once threatened both U.S. coasts, and then suddenly disappeared.
We’re not sure if it’s gone for good or if it’s simply slipped under the radar. So this year, we’re asking boaters all over the U.S. to keep their eyes peeled for them, and report any sightings to our Mitten Crab Watch site: mittencrab.nisbase.org
