Master artist Sue Yeon Park performed dances based in Korean Buddhism here on Friday with her troupe. We loved learning about Korean traditional arts in this installment of our Sounds of Faith music series.
Park was born and raised in South Korea. She began learning the music and dance of Korean shamanism from a young age. She moved to the U.S. in 1982, and since then she has played a significant role in teaching and representing Korean traditional arts to American communities. In 2008, she was recognized as a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow, the United States' highest honor in folk and traditional arts.
