“So much of the time we think of art as an object outside of us, and we think of museums as neutral places that house these objects. But looking at art is a physical experience, not just visual but multi-sensorial—bumping into other museum goers, the stark walls, the sounds. Looking to our surroundings, we will discuss how the museum is inside of a contextualized environment for experiencing art, and how our histories and how we as individuals make meaning of our time in the museum.
