The news has been devastating. The tragic suicide of #AnthonyBourdain has left me, like many others of the followers of his outstanding work, sick in my stomach with immense sadness. Thank you chef for all the inspiration, for your curiosity and openness towards the world and its #PartsUnkown. And thank you, as an Iranian, for honestly telling the story of my country, as contradictory and complicated as it is. We know it wasn't an easy task, especially under the nose of the authorities. What an incredible shame to lose you so untimely. I wish somehow you would've known that there was a light at the end of your deep, dark tunnel too. • If you're hurting, if you think there's no way out, please, please, PLEASE seek out help. Mental illness doesn't belong to certain people with certain jobs from certain social classes. It can affect absolutely EVERYBODY, and there's no shame in it just as there's no shame in having a heart condition or a mild cold. You might be able to cure your mild cold with a pill, an orange juice and rest, but you CANNOT cure your heart condition without a SPECIALIST. Things won't all get better once you see a therapist, but things will definitely CHANGE, and you'll see that you can change, and so will your life. I am never really that private here but I think this is a good moment to reach out to one another and talk. It's not necessarily an easy life fact to share with the world, but I am not embarrassed to tell you that I have been in constant therapy (collective analysis) for more than seven years now. And it has CHANGED MY LIFE, in better. It doesn't mean I have always been the happiest since I started, but things that I thought were ugly and everlasting, changed. If you know people who are hurting, please reach out to them and try to make them a see specialist. So many precious human lives can be saved if we simply accept that we just need a cure for yet another illness. #mentalillnessawareness #ripbourdain
