This image is from the cover story of the first issue of Far & Away, a new magazine that brings together the photojournalism of National Geographic and the reporting of The Wall Street Journal.

Flat race horses cool down in the sea after training on the public gallops at Barka beach, Barka, Oman. The training racetrack is nicknamed "Newmarket Barka" after the famous Newmarket racecourse in the UK, around which a large number of racing stables are based.
Every afternoon local racing stables come to the sand tracks to exercise endurance and flat race horses.
