Mt. Iwate is the highest peak in the Ou Mountains. The 2038 meters (6686 feet) mountain can be viewed clearly from the Mikaeri Pass nearby the summit of Hachimantai. Mt. Iwate may be a symbol of Iwate prefecture, but from Hachimantai, it will show different aspects, from that viewed from Morioka, the prefectural capital city of Iwate.
