Lying between the border of Iwate and Akita prefecture is Hachimantai. There are two roads, the Hachimantai Aspite Line and Jukai Line, that run close to the summit.
This is the best time to see the 10 meter (33 feet) high "Snow Corridor" of the Hachimantai Aspite Line that opened in April 15th. On the 27th, Hachimantai Jukai Line will also reopen, bringing in another wonderful tourist season to the 1614 meter (5295 feet) mountain. Now is the only season the Snow Corridor and cherry blossoms can be enjoyed all together.
