Day 16 of #the100dayproject: The creative process is helping me move through this journey of life without my dad. I’m giving myself plenty of room to grieve and will continue to do so but I also need breaks from those waves or I will drown in them. Taking photos and sharing about what inspires me are a source of joy. Honoring my dad's life also means being able to embrace happiness when it comes and allowing myself to still smile even with a broken heart. One of his favorite questions that he asked me every time we spoke was: "What made you smile today?"

The older treasures: Nikon F4. It was a favorite and well-loved camera by my dad and the one he gifted to me. Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. My hands down most requested book for my dad to read me. And he did each night as if it were the very first time. The Destiny card in the center. My dad gave this to me on *his* birthday, which speaks volumes about his heart. This is what also inspired me to give my son a small gift each year on my birthday too.
