Photo by @Cristina Mittermeier // Like so many young indigenous people around the world, @takaiya_blaney has struggled with identity, frustration and anger at the atrocities committed against her people and against the land and the water. She, however, has made her own Contract with Earth and she uses her voice and her talent to speak for her people, the Tla’Amin First Nation. In fact, she is the youngest person ever to speak at the United Nations Forum for indigenous people, where she inspired the world with her passion and determination. We each have an opportunity to have that conversation with ourselves many times throughout the day. So, when the moment comes for each of us to ask ourselves: Is this a good choice? Is this good for the planet? Am I thinking about others, the future generations, or am I just thinking about myself? Let the answer be informed by your values, let it be born out of a lifelong conversation with your own heart that knows what’s good for the Earth is also good for us.
