My mom generated her income during my childhood by the creative works of her hands. It wasn’t just a small business, it was a family business because we all pitched in and woke up before the sunrise to help. I think that was one of the most valuable gifts ever given to me. It’s also why I’ll always be passionate about supporting small, independent and/or family businesses. It’s not just about the product, it’s the people, the heart, and the sweat and soul behind it. They are the ones out there letting the rest of us know that you can have a dream in your heart and see it realized. It’s definitely not easy, but it is possible and worthwhile and fulfilling. And to me that is one of the most worthy reasons to support any maker, artisan, dreamer, doer, designer and hard worker with guts. I hope to always see good folks like this flourish because they keep the spark alive for the rest of us and the generations to come.

And on a side note: thank you from my whole heart for the heartwarming and incredible support of the Vagabond Notebook release, a traveler’s journal co-designed by @franklinchristoph and myself. It overwhelmed me beyond all expression. It is putting a piece of myself right out there and I cannot tell you how much it meant to be so encouraged, uplifted and cheered on. It spoke volumes. And I’m happy to share that the next production of VNs should be available on the @franklinchristoph website no later than Tuesday, February 20th! Yay!
