Since the 1970s, #JoanJonas has explored the possibilities of combining video and performance, and the spaces they inhabit. As if turning the medium of video inside out, Jonas expanded her artistic explorations in the 1990s, creating room-filling installations that combined video, drawing, sculpture, and audio components. The creation of “Reanimation” began in 2010 as a performance in collaboration with composer and jazz musician Jason Moran. It now exists as both a performance and an installation.
