Women earned some pretty big—and small—victories in what has been a problematic year in many ways. We’re counting down to 2018 by celebrating some of those major moments. Harvey Weinstein’s predatory behavior was, apparently, an "open secret" in Hollywood for decades, yet the mega-producer seemed virtually untouchable. That changed in October, when two female reporters from the New York Times, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, published a bombshell exposé chronicling 30 years of sexual harassment allegedly committed by Weinstein. Since the story, dozens of actresses—including Rose McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd, and Lupita Nyong'o—have admitted that they, too, were harassed or assaulted by Weinstein. The reporters' work paid off: Weinstein was fired from the studio he co-founded, police are looking into the allegations, and women have been sharing their own experiences using the viral hashtag, #MeToo. Though Weinstein threatened legal action against the Times, Kantor and Twohey never stopped chasing the story. Says Kantor, ”Reporting protects women.” Tap the #linkinbio for more from our feature, "101 Reasons It's Damn Good to Be a Woman in 2017." BY: Maura Walters
