Looking to Mount Tanigawa from Tenjinone, we can see the red fruit of a bare-leaved Japanese rowan (‘nanakamado’). Hit by the cool, moist air, the fruit is covered in a form of hoarfrost known as ‘ebi no shippo,’ or ‘shrimp’s tail.’ From here on up, it’s a world of snow-covered mountains.

The Tanigawa Mountain Range comprises 2,000-meter class mountains, but from these environs you can also enjoy scenes of 3,000-meter peaks.
