Several ponds and marshes can be found in the forest around Tsuta Bird Sanctuary, located at the base of the Hakkoda Mountains in Aomori Prefecture.
Tsutanuma is the largest pond that can be found along the paths that run through the forest. In the fall, the surface of the pond is painted red as it reflects the vibrant foliage in the morning sunlight. Hordes of photographers await the dawn to catch the pond at its best!
