Meet Nigalya, an endangered red panda at the @ChattanoogaZoo. This animal was hand raised, and is very sweet and docile. He’s trained to walk around on a leash, and is often taken to schools and events to help educate the public about his species. He can be parked on a dime for grapes and grape jelly. He was 15 1/2 years old during this photoshoot, making him ancient in the red panda world-- they live for 22 years at the most. Almost 50 percent of wild red pandas’ habitats are in the Eastern himalayas. Because of the loss of their nesting trees there, as well as bamboo to eat, the populations of these adorable creatures continue to decrease.
