1990s kids, remember Prairie Dawn? On "Sesame Street," she's a seven-year-old Muppet with big dreams. She learns about life while working on pageants and playing piano. Our 1990s Prairie Dawn puppet is on view in our "T is for Television" display right now. Because Muppets are made of a variety of light-sensitive materials including plastics and textiles, they can't be on permanent display. Our Preservation Services team helps us decide how long each Muppet can be on display and how long they need to spend behind-the-scenes. As a result, we often rotate which Muppets are on display. In March, Prairie Dawn and Oscar the Grouch will leave "T is for Television" and Grover and Count Count Von Count will go on view. In our "American Stories" exhibition right now, you can also see Swedish Chef until it's his turn to rotate in a few months. With so much childhood nostalgia on display right now, it's a fun time to visit the museum. But you might also want to get your holiday shopping done while you're here. On December 2 and 3, we're offering free gift wrapping, holiday concerts, chocolate demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, and lots of other holiday cheer.
