ゴゾ島で350年前から使われている天然塩田 #ソルトパン ！
This is 350-year-old salt pans in Gozo island, Malta??

ゴゾ島南端のフェリー乗り場から、タクシーで最北端へ20分ほど。
港町を抜けると、海岸線に突如として正方形に区画されたチェスボードのような大地が広がってきます。
これは「ソルトパン」と呼ばれる天然塩田！
.
夏季に、干満の差で流れ込んだ海水をこの四角いパン(フライ”パン”の”パン”ね)の中で太陽光で沸騰させて乾燥して、塩をつくりだすのです。
自然のパワーすごい。。
.
今は生産者さんの数は減っているけれど、350年前から作り続けられているそうです。
今はオフシーズンなので使われてません。

塩田とは思えない、そして地中海の中にいるとは思えない荒野的な光景！！！
夏の光景を脳裏に浮かべながらの、束の間の滞在でした。

This place is Saltpans, which stretch about 3km along the coast on the north part of Gozo, Malta.
.
When I was heading here from the ferry terminal, which located in the southern part, suddenly those fields which designed like chequerboard were appeared. Saltpans is a place where the natural sea-salt produced, and here there is a 350-year-old history!! During the summer time, some Gozitan families are still working here.

Once the sea water comes into this pans, they wait evaporating the water with the sunlight, after that they get the natural sea-salt on the pans.Amazing natural power.

Wilderness still beautiful scenery, isn’t it?
