This quote really speaks. Growth is glorious but in the process, at least in mine, it does feel uneven at times. One aspect of self is strengthened forcing old skin to shed while simultaneously shifting all the other components out of their comfortable nooks. This is the space where I feel empowered and closer to my heart while at the same time feeling discombobulated, vulnerable and as awkward as a teenager trying to make sense of internal change and one’s place in the world. The paradox of being. And flux.

Yesterday we went on an impromptu day trip to NYC. As in crack of dawn, a few things in the backpack, getting in the car and just driving. None of this was planned or mapped and it was probably the most impractical endeavor considering just having recovered from a cold. Maybe it was the soul’s resounding yawp or perhaps the warning signs of burn out, but I knew I just needed to go. Unapologetically. And I brought my family with me who at the last minute suggestion of it all, were excitedly game.

I hardly snapped any photos and just wanted to be in it. Sometimes the best snapshots are the experience. But I did manage to take this one while we found rest and refuge at the @nypl (swipe left to see Aslan). Oh and I did indeed make it over to the Traveler’s Caravan at Ace Hotel but I’m saving that post (including a run-in with a lovely kindred spirit @eejiny) for later. Here’s to life. It’s beautiful and messy and it’s okay no matter where you’re at in it.
