The hardest lesson I've learned in #compclimbing is is to really, truly, climb for yourself. Perceived 'failures' become learning experiences because in the end, only you can control your outcome - not anyone else's. Once this realization is achieved, the pressure of external motivation (comparing to others) fades and the excitement of internal motivation (comparing to oneself) fires up ??

I fought hard in the redpoint round during this past weekend's #PortlandBoulderRally. I thought I might not make Finals, but honestly wasn't bothered because I knew I had done everything I could, and felt good about how I climbed ?

Turns out I did make Finals ? I tried hard, stayed focused, and squeaked into 2nd place behind super-crusher @kyracondie!! It felt nice to place amongst a field of mostly-younger competitors, but the next gen is strong ???? and they are well caught up already ?
