A lot of folks don't know that moose and all members of the deer family regrow their antlers every single year. The antler bone is the fastest growing bone on earth and is fueled by a velvet like material that supplies it with blood, oxygen, and other nutrients. This bull was in the process of shedding his velvet revealing the extremely sharp and blood drenched antler bone. It only takes a couple days for the velvet to fall off and then the moose will have his armor ready for the autumn rut.
