75 years ago today, during World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs an order allowing for incarceration of people of Japanese descent. Many Japanese Americans were forced out of their homes and into camps established by the U.S. government. Many would spend the next three years living under armed guard, behind barbed wire.

Many fellow U.S. citizens recognized the unjust incarceration of American people and went so far as to question the democratic ideology of the U.S. government. Truman B. Douglass was one of these advocates. In this pamphlet that he authored, Douglass called attention to these horrible circumstances and compelled others to move against the unfair treatment of American citizens of Japanese ancestry.

See our exhibition "Righting a Wrong: Japanese Americans and World War II," on display now. Today is our Day of Remembrance program as well, from 1-3 p.m.
