Happy #LunarNewYear! 2017 is the year of the #rooster. #MarcChagall designed this rooster costume for the 1942 Ballet Theater of New York production of "Aleko" choreographed by Léonide Massine with music by Pyotr Ilich Tchaikovsky. Chagall personally decorated many of the more than seventy costumes, some of which were sewn by his wife, Bella. You may have seen Chagall's backdrop for the production, "A Wheatfield on a Summer's Afternoon," on view at the @フィラデルフィア美術館.
