Today, on "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" in 1918: World War I ends. This artwork from the war depicts a morning mess for a group of American soldiers.
The artist is George Matthews Harding, one of the artists contracted by the American Expeditionary Forces for the explicit purpose of illustrating the conflict.
