Sunrise at Toroweap Overlook, Arizona

Perched some 3,000 feet above the Colorado River, Devlin Gandy takes a break from our hunt to find North America’s oldest art to admire sunrise from Toroweap Point. We have seen some amazing pictographs and petroglyphs on this trip through the American West. But Toroweap is a great reminder that the landscapes that house these treasures are amazing in and of themselves. Poised on the edge of Earth Day and the centennial of the National Park Service it is important to contemplate what the modern conservation movement has preserved for us all. Without it large parts of the #GrandCanyon would now be a lake and this amazing landscape would be underwater.
