For #Oscars weekend, we’re going behind the scenes at MoMA Film’s preservation center in Hamlin, Pennsylvania, which houses 5,000 fragile nitrate films dating from 1894 to 1951, and some 20,000 titles on acetate-based "safety stock." Classics like “It Happened One Night,” “On the Waterfront,” and “Taxi Driver” have been preserved in the course of our collaborations with studios and distributors since the department was founded 80 years ago.
