Freddie chose to climb right, into the tight cleft in the upper right hand corner of the image. This decision probably saved our lives as a thunderous avalanche engulfed the entire 'regular route'. An avalanche that size usually carries heavy debris, large chunks of snow and ice, and rocks...all of which can end up in a very 'bad day' in the mountains. @thephotosociety @natgeocreative
