For some families, watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is as important a tradition as carving the turkey.
The event started in 1924 and included LIVE animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo, but switched to giant balloons in 1927.
These @uspostalservice stamps from 2009, designed by Paul Rogers, celebrate the color and activity of the parade. While each stamp functions individually, they line up together to create a panorama. (You can see the full artwork used to make the stamp at our National Postal Museum in its new exhibition of stamp art, opening Dec. 10.) #MacysParade #Thanksgiving
