Today our @国立アメリカ歴史博物館 received objects from the television series #BreakingBad, including this yellow Tyvek suit and gas mask. The show follows the tragic descent of actor Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal cancer and starts making methamphetamine to support his family.

Many shows have explored the idea of the American dream. #BreakingBad explores the ambivalence of the contemporary American dream: Good and evil intermix and there no moral absolutes.

Other donated objects include a bag of the blue “meth” that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman sell, cups from the fictional restaurant Los Pollos Hermanos and the signature hat Walt sports when using his “Heisenberg” alias. (Sorry, #RoofPizza fans, it didn’t make the cut). The objects won’t be on display yet—@国立アメリカ歴史博物館 is in the process of building a new culture exhibit which will open in 2018
