Unlike the Rockies that receive their fall bloom around the middle of September, Yosemite Valley peaks during late October through early November. So while the tops of the cliffs, such as the world famous Half Dome pictured here, get snow, the valley floor remains locked in autumn. I found it interesting that the park service didn't except a good fall season this year due to the massive drought hitting the state, but to everyone's surprise, the fall colors have been quite strong. This particular sunrise, a slight fog layer lifted off of the frozen meadow as it brushed by the elm and maple trees across the way.
