Ben Kuroki was one of very few Japanese Americans to serve in combat roles in the Pacific during World War II. While he served as a gunner in a B-29 in 28 raids over Japan, many Japanese Americans were forced out of their homes and into imprisonment camps established by the US government.
This is his "blood chit." A blood chit is an identification flag with instructions for locals on how to assist downed pilots.
Kuroki passed away on Tuesday. Learn more about his heroism on our blog: bit.ly/BenKuroki (link in profile) ?? #WorldWar2 #History #BenKuroki #JapaneseAmericanHeritage #Nisei
