Last Monday night i had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and listen to a legend, Mr. Richard M. Sherman.
He sat at the piano and sang "Chim Chim Cher-ee", a song he wrote for the 1964 musical movie MARY POPPINS.
This was just one of the many songs he wrote that you grew up knowing by heart (Spoonful of Sugar, It's a Small World, The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers, more) I was brought to tears listening to that beautiful song come right from the lungs and heart of its author and knew I was in the presence of greatness. I couldn't bear to pull out my phone and record it... It seemed too crass for the purity of the moment. When we walked off stage and into the wings, he saw the tears in my eyes and kissed me on the cheek.
