After school, members of a track and field club in #TelAviv wait for a public bus to head to practice from the city’s central bus station. In February, @tamirhasacellphone spent a week with the runners. The group, known as The Alley Athletes, has 70 male and female runners aged 10 to 26 from over 15 countries, including Israel, Eritrea, Sudan, Nigeria, Russia, and Ukraine. The team includes Jewish, Muslim and Christian runners, many of them high school students. Hebrew is their shared language. “The amazing thing about the team is that it's like a mini United Nations,” said @tamirhasacellphone, whose photos will appear in @nytimessports. #nytweekender #Israel
